The proposals support housing delivery and the long-term future of Begbroke Science Park as a leading University-owned innovation hub.

Quod provided strategic, planning, socio-economic and environmental advice to secure a highly consent to create a new Innovation District, helping balance growth, infrastructure and long-term University objectives.

OUR ROLE

Quod has advised Oxford University Development since 2021, overseeing preparation of an outline planning application for a landmark Innovation District to the north of the city. The proposals enable delivery of c.1,800 new homes, 155,000 sqm of laboratories, R&D and faculty space, three schools, a local centre and over 80 hectares of high-quality green infrastructure. The scheme supports the long-term evolution of Begbroke Science Park, established over 20 years ago as a world-renowned innovation community. It fosters collaboration across Oxford’s physical, life sciences and medical research sectors, providing flexible accommodation and support for new and growing companies throughout their development lifecycle within a globally significant research environment.

Quod Planning led, CIL, Environmental Planning, Development Economics and Socio-economic teams provided integrated advice throughout. Quod led the planning strategy, coordinated the outline application, prepared the Development Specification, managed stakeholder negotiations and played a key part in negotiating the section 106 agreement. Our teams also advised on viability, housing strategy, school location optioneering and Environmental Statement coordination, ensuring a robust, flexible and deliverable planning framework.
