Springwell Energyfarm Limited, a joint venture between EDF power solutions UK and Ireland and PS Renewables
Springwell Solar Farm DCO
Overview
Springwell Solar Farm is a landmark clean energy project in North Kesteven, Lincolnshire. Granted development consent in April 2026, the 800MW project is the UK’s largest solar farm and includes one of the UK’s largest batteries. It responds to the urgent need for secure, home-grown renewable energy while delivering wider environmental, economic and community benefits.
Details
Quod led the project from inception, managing the Planning and EIA workstreams, consenting strategy and DCO process.
QUOD ROLE
Working with EDF power solutions, PS Renewables and the wider project team, Quod helped shape Springwell’s planning strategy, environmental assessment and design evolution from the outset. Led by Rich Jones, Quod coordinated the Planning and EIA workstreams across a complex 1,280-hectare site, addressing matters including grid connection deliverability, BMV agricultural land, heritage, landscape and visual effects, flood risk and decommissioning security. The consent demonstrates Quod’s ability to successfully guide nationally significant renewable energy projects from early strategy right through to a rigorous DCO examination and the grant of consent.
