Overview
Quod has led the planning delivery of Rushden Lakes since successfully acting as planning expert witness at the Secretary of State Call-In Inquiry in 2014. The 700,000sqft retail and leisure destination opened in 2017 and now includes over 70 units, attracting 4.5 million visitors in its first year. Quod has since secured multiple permissions to expand the scheme.

Quod worked with stakeholders to deliver a mix of national operators, independent retailers, and the Nene Valley Wetlands Centre, creating a vibrant regional destination.
OUR ROLE
Quod has played a leading role in the planning and expansion of Rushden Lakes, acting initially as planning expert witness at the Secretary of State Call-In Inquiry which secured permission for the scheme in 2014. Since then, Quod has overseen the planning delivery of the development, obtaining a series of further consents to extend retail and leisure provision, including a new leisure block and additional floorspace. The scheme now accommodates more than 70 occupiers, combining major national brands with independent retailers and leisure attractions. In 2020, Quod also secured planning permission for a further employment and retail development west of Rushden Lakes.
