Overview
Since 2016, Quod has provided strategic financial viability and housing need advice in relation to the delivery and evolution of the Barking Riverside development. Originally jointly appointed by Barking Riverside Ltd and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Quod has supported the progression of the scheme from the original 10,000-home Outline Planning Permission through to the New Outline Planning Application for 20,000 homes.

Quod's Role
Quod’s role has been multi-disciplinary, combining strategic financial viability; affordable housing and housing need analysis; infrastructure funding and delivery strategy; planning negotiation support; viability review mechanisms; and stakeholder engagement with the GLA, LBBD and wider project team. Quod initially acted as an impartial independent advisor to both BRL and LBBD before subsequently advising BRL directly on the New Outline Planning Application. Quod has overseen viability inputs across multiple detailed Sub-Framework Plans and supported the preparation of a deliverable long-term strategy for a major new mixed-use neighbourhood, balancing affordable housing delivery, infrastructure investment and evolving market conditions.
